Comings & Goings

EXCITING WELCOME HOME'S AND EMOTIONAL GOODBYE'S

Manic Stage Productions are so fortunate to have such a talented team of Show Girlz. We are always growing and exploding with new talent. Our ethos is to encourage each Showgirl to pursue their performing dreams and fulfill their potential in any performance field they choose, knowing there is always a space for them in the show team when they return! Both Nicole and Matt had extensive carers as professional performers and know how amazing it is to be able use your talent to see the world. The whole team love to hear about each others new jobs, adventures and travel tips.

This month is bittersweet for us Show Girlz, we gladly see the return of many of the girls from different places around the globe, but sadly we also say farewell to a number of girls who leave for different contracts over the summer.

We are delighted Emma has returned from the other side of the world. She has only been away for 6weeks traveling Australia but it felt like so much longer. We hear she had an amazing time and had many many stories to tell. Emma jumped straight back into the team and is excited to be getting back into working for Manic..... even if she is missing the sunshine just a little.

Both Tilly and Kim return this month from Cruise Liner contracts where they have been singing and dancing around the Caribbean. They have been entertaining the passengers on the ships with a variety of themed shows which we cannot wait to hear all about and see some of the new choreography and styles that they have learnt. Performing on these super liners really is a dream job for these young girls, as well as travelling to exciting new places their schedules would have been very busy! But we know these girls very well and I'm sure with all that hard work came some time to explore and party too.

Our last girl to return back to the fold is Jade, we are expecting her home in the next couple of weeks and are very much looking forward to seeing her soon. She is on her way back after finishing her contract on Princess Cruises. From her pictures she looks like she has been having a brilliant time and we can’t wait to hear all about her travels.

On the other hand we are having to say Bon Voyage and good luck to a couple of our precious Show Girlz leaving us. Firstly Chloe and Megan are both jetting off to Cyprus on different fun filled summer contracts. They will be seen on many hotel stages across the country entertaining holiday makers with their dancing and fire dancing skills. We are sure they will have a fantastic summer full of exciting adventures.

Lucy P is off next, heading all the way to the Far East! Again another of our girls to land a fantastic cruise ship contract this time sailing around China, South Korea and Japan with Costa Cruises. Matt and Nicole know just how amazing dancing on the ship is and say Lucy is in for a real treat performing and traveling with an oriental twist! We look forward to hearing all about it when she returns home in October.

Lastly, Tasha always finds time to pop back to the team in between her touring show contract. She has been back now for just a couple of weeks but will be off again very shortly continuing her Musical tour of ‘Grease’ around Europe. The show has had great success and it looks like Tasha will be busy throughout the summer wowing the audiences all over the globe.

Even though we always miss each and every girl it is so important for Manic Stage Productions to supply their clients with the best performers on the South Coast. We believe that the girls time away from Manic experiencing new things and other professional contracts really does help with our mission to be the best! There are always Show Girlz here in the UK ready and waiting to add their show girl sparkle to any event. So don't delay get in contact TODAY

And remember Show Girlz you will always have place in our "Manic" family so enjoy your time away and will be here waiting to welcome you back home on your return..

Adding Glitz & Glamour

There’s No Business Like Show Business...

Last week we were invited to be part of the Portsmouth Business Expo 2014. The prestigious event was this year held at the grand Portsmouth Guildhall. A huge and diverse selection of businesses set up their stands ready to welcome some of Portsmouth's business elite to browse over what their company has to offer.

Our  Show Girlz welcome and entertain the crowds as they entered the historic building ready for a long day of networking. Way up high on our stilts we excited the public from the moment they arrived and saw us through the doors.

Throughout the day we changing our outfits and surprising the public with our eye catching array of colouful and fun themed costumes. We showcased our much loved favorites including:

Showgirls

Bunny Girls

Sailors

Clowns

and Can Can Girls.

We spent the day walking round the stands introducing ourselves to the many businesses present, explaining to them how we could enhance their business on a day like today.

Advertising and drawing attention was our aim and thats exactly what we did.
We attracted a lot of interest and were surely remembered for the fun we brought to proceedings.

We previously worked for a company much like all of the businesses present at The Olympia Business Show in London. We were able to explain that by using The SHOW Girlz so many people noticed the business and came over to browse and find out more about what the company had to offer. As always The Show Girlz were there to draw in the crowds and bring a touch of glamour to the days events!

A the end of the day out came our stilts again for a wander through the stalls (with another costume change of course). We posed for photos on and off our stilts with lots of different companies and were tweeting away making new contacts and friends.

We hope to work with many of you in the future and don’t hesitate to contact us if you feel we could be of any help or assistance at your next event!

Directioners Unite!

One Direction Fun Day!

Back in February we held our 1st very popular One Direction FunDay in the half term and it went down brilliantly. Due to popular demand and a sell out in a record timing of just two days we had to create a second day to accommodate all the interest.

Taking place at Portsmouth's Guildhall the children got a real taste of what it was like to perform just as our favourite boy band 1D do.

With five jam packed hours of singing, dancing, crafts and catwalks the children were entertained all day and in their element performing to their favourite 1D stars top 10 tracks.

With everything themed around the One Direction boys it really was a directioners dream! We started with a mixture of games followed by some funky routines to the One Direction smash hit 'Best Song Ever'. The super fans even created some of their our very own '1D' cheerleading chants. Fun, energetic performance pieces were created and showed how bigger fans our children were of the band.

With it being Valentines Day after lunch each child made their own super fan valentines cards to send to their chosen member of the band and wrote in it their special message just for them. We decorated them and personalised them ready to take home at the end of the day.

Our confidence catwalk was to the famous song 'What Makes You Beautiful'. Full of smiles, poses, fun and giggles all the children took their place on the runaway and headed down the catwalk to show off their new found confidence and moves. Parents always love to see their little stars have  their special moment in the spotlight.

Both days were so much fun and everyone enjoyed all of the fantastic 1D themed activities. Mum's, dad's and the rest of the family all came together at the end of the day to watch their little ones in the finale performance and showcase all the talent from that day. The children put on a fantastic show leaving some very happy and impressed parents. Feed back was that the children didn't want to leave and are already so excited for Easter and joining us at some of our other Fun Days that we have coming up soon. Overall it was a very memorable successful two days and we can't wait to do it all again in a few weeks!

Our upcoming dates are all taking place at the Portsmouth Guildhall and are as follows:

Free Promotional Pints!

Our Jockey Themed Promotional Team

This month saw the start of a brand new partnership and fun filled promotional venture with a group of racecourses. Last week Manic Stage Productions and our team of gorgeous promotional models were working hard in London at Paddington Station on behalf of Lingfield Park Racecourse.

As always our team were dressed to impress and this time we put on our riding boots and took on the role of jockey's in their brightly coloured jockey shirts and hats. As you can see we looked very eye catching and were certainly getting lots of attention from passers by and the hundreds of racegoers heading to Cheltenham.

The team were handing out scratch cards as part of their first fun promotion for Lingfield Park, giving the public the chance to win free race cards, programmes and pints. The scratch cards went down really well and everyone was very excited for the day ahead. Armed with their free gifts, the public piled onto the trains and set off in a great mood ready to enjoy the race day ahead.

The team have been booked for many more promotions over the next few months and are looking forward to working with different racecourses across the south including, Kempton Park and Newbury Racecourse.

Manic Member of the Month ~ February

This month we want you to meet our team member - Tony

SO HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PERFROMING?

I have been dancing since the age of 6 in and around Portsmouth and have studied in Ballet, Tap, Modern, jazz, Street dance, Ballroom & Disco Dancing. I come from a family with a performing background but it was always my choice to perform, none of this pushy parent malarkey. I performed with New Pantomime productions for over 8 years in there family pantomimes at the Kings Theatre Southsea. Over the years I got to perform with Lisa Riley, Lorraine Chase, Keith Harris and stars of Gladiators & Neighbours. One of the highlights of my career was winning the chance to perform at the London Palladium, performing alongside the cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. There’s no better feeling than performing to an amazing audience.

WHERE DID YOU TRAIN?

I’m a local lad so I trained at local schools in Portsmouth. I also discovered I had a voice whilst performing in Joseph & his Technicolor Dreamcoat and have had extensive vocal training. I gained a BTEC National Diploma in Musical Theatre and have been performing professionally ever since.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR MANIC?

I first worked with Manic over Christmas 2012 performing at local light switch ons and themed Christmas party nights. As well as this Manic also got me a contract to perform at some local Christmas markets, which was such a great experience. I have now returned to Manic as they always have exciting things lined up, I’m currently teaching local school children drama & musical theatre in there PPA Cover sessions & Afterschool clubs. I can always rely on Nicole & Matt to give me a challenge and this time round that come in the form of stilts! On Saturday 25^th January I stood high on my stilts meeting and greeting supporters of the London Wasps Rugby team. I also enjoy it as it adds a few inches to my height, which is an advantage for a shorty like me.

WHAT WERE YOU UPTO IN 2013?

In 2013 I gained a year contract with Bourne Leisure who provide Cast performers to Butlins in Bognor Regis. I was one of two vocalists who performed in a resident band called #CodeRed, performing on breaks across 2013 singing in there two amazing venues. Over the year I performed with the UK’S No.1 tributes to Tina Turner, Tom Jones & Katy Perry. This was a great opportunity to make some new contacts and a chance to see how to start a tribute in the future. Whilst working with Butlins Musical Director Steve Etherington I was asked to feature on an upcoming Christmas album “Let There Be Christmas” with Santa & His Christmas Crackers, which has now been released in Europe. I also had the task of being Swing for the Skyline Gang at Butlins and had the opportunity to perform over the year.

WOW THAT’S AWESOME! WHATS YOUR PLAN FOR 2014?

My plan for 2014 is to settle back into Portsmouth and hopefully get myself on the property ladder fingers crossed and perform/teach for Manic. I would have loved to perform on cruise ships like some of my Manic colleagues but thats not possible due to being such a shorty…. But maybe I should wear my stilts to the audition? Just an idea, have a great 2014 and remember for your entertainment needs choose Manic!

Working for the Wasps

The Manic Swarm is coming!!

This weekend we head back to the home of The London Wasps Ruby team in High Wycombe to add Glamour and Attraction to the Gates of Adams Park.

We loved our debut last month and can't wait to be back amongst their super fans at this Saturdays Aviva Premiership game agains London Irish.

Drawing in the crowds with our Stilt Walking professionals for the pre-match entertainment, we certainly caused quite a stir among the Rugby fans! Walking around interacting with the Wasps fans, posing for photos and promoting the clubs future games all from 10ft above the ground!

Suitably dressed as giant wasps its a great way to advertise the upcoming matches including ‘The Stinger’ Match against Gloucester Rugby on April 19^th played at none other than Twickenham Rugby stadium, where you will once again see Manic Stage Productions providing the pre-match entertainment!

Our last visit to the Rugby was a great day out especially when it led to a win for our Wasps! But more importantly a highlight was definitely meeting all of the Rugby lads themselves!

We hope that we will be celebrating another win on Saturday! We will keep you posted on our twitter and Facebook pages head on over to keep in touch
