JULY'S CELEBRATED CLIENT!

SCHOOLS OUT!

As part of our 10th year anniversary celebrations, each month this year Manic Stage Productions are thanking one of our loyal and deserving clients for their continued support and our great working relationship over the past 10 years.
July's client is 'Court Lane Infant School'

Court Lane Infant School in Drayton have had one of our talented team teaching all aspects of dance to year groups across the school for the past 4 years. We are certainly looking forward to dancing into our 5th working year with them in September!

Back in the year 2010, Manic's proprietor Nicole sat down with then headteacher Mrs Twigg to devise a solution to their PPA and PE needs.

PPA time is time set aside for teachers during their timetabled teaching day to allow them to carry out planning, preparation and assessment activities. Its purpose is to relieve some of the existing workload pressures on teachers.

Working closely together Nicole and Mrs Twigg successfully created, wrote and developed a dance syllabus that complied with the National Cirriculum levels 1, 2 and 3. It covers all styles of dance and develops the children's co-ordination, control, creativity, confidence and capability. Each half term the children in each year groups work on a new style of dance and perfect a different genre with specific moves and skills. The styles vary from:
Pop Dance
Street Dance
Cheerleading
Contemporary
Indian
African
Tap
Ballet
and many more on request.

This exciting new syllabus is now available for all infants schools to enjoy and covers Year R through to Year 2.

Compliance with the national agreement can put a strain on teachers timetables and we are aware that some schools do not have enough non-contact time available in their busy schedules. Let Manic Stage Productions help you raise standards and tackle workload by using our creative team to provide your teachers with the minimum 10 percent guaranteed PPA time required.

If you feel your school would benefit by featuring Manic Stage Productions and their inspiring dance tutors, then call today. These professionally lead sessions are fun for all and Manic would love to become a part of your schools timetable and provide you with this unique service.

Our PPA workshops have become very popular throughout Hampshire. We help in developing a school's PPA strategy by offering additional staff. Our unique and versatile teaching methods bring to life the national curriculum using dance and drama, giving pupils a chance to develop their creativity and confidence.

Do not hesitate to get in touch. We are always happy to discuss your individual needs to devise a specific plan for your school and pupils

February's Celebrated Client

LOVE IS IN THE AIR!!..

The team were hard at work this valentines weekend and romance was definitely in the air as we took to the Portsmouth Guildhall stage to entertain the bride and grooms to be at the first wedding fayre of the year.

As we do at each PMN Wedding Fayre, Manic produced the creative catwalk with beautiful stunning choreography and showcased gorgeous dresses from two bridal boutiques in the local area.

With a selection of romantic tracks our models took to the catwalk  with a packed out crowd of excited brides getting ideas and looking  to make their big day one to remember with that perfect dress.

Our models were lucky enough to have their hair and make up done by the professional stylists and artists at Diamond Quay Hair and Beauty Lounge. Their looks complimented the dresses exquisitely and allowed our models to flaunt their elegant looks throughout the performance.
We also had lots of hair accessories and jewellery to model from different companies to add to our production and they really topped off our overall looks and gave the audience a whole host of things to consider when getting inspiration for their own weddings.

We always love creating the catwalk show for PMN and have worked closely with Paul now for the past few years.
As part of our 10th year in business birthday celebrations we are presenting one of close clients each month with a bottle of champagne to show our appreciation and thanks for the support and work relationship in the build up to our tenth year!
This February Paul and Karen, (Organisers of PMN Wedding Fayres) were our chosen recipients and posed on the catwalk for a celebratory photo with the models and team on stage.

We will be at a different venue on Sunday again for PMN. If you fancy coming along to see what Old Thorns Manor, Liphook has to offer then you will be able to see a wide variety of companies providing all the services you could possibly need for your special day and there will be two catwalk shows produced by our team for your viewing pleasure.

January's Celebrated Client - The Kings Theatre

THANK YOU TO THE KINGS THEATRE!

This year we begin our 10th birthday celebrations of being in business and each month we are thanking one of our fantastic clients for their continued support, generosity and valued working relationship.

January's celebrated client is of course The Kings Theatre

Over the past 10 years Manic have had a brilliant relationship with one of the most beautiful theatres on the South Coast.

The famous Kings Theatre right here in the heart of Southsea, Portsmouth plays host to hundreds of touring productions, comedians and musical stars each and every month.

Manic Stage Productions are very thankful to have formed such a great working relationship with the theatre and its creative team over the years and are always thrilled to be asked be a part of their fantastic educational events, fundraising shows, one off appearances and events around the city and beyond.

A huge thank you to David Cooper, the manager of the Kings Theatre who has given us countless performing opportunities and has asked for our services on many occasions to add some glitz, glamour and style to all kinds of events.
We have been a part of the Children In Need charity showcase for the past 5 years which are always so much fun for the team and a chance to show off our latest medleys to the people of Portsmouth.

Manic have provided, showgirls, dancers, singers and hostesses for many different Kings Theatre based events and performances such as, Fused, The Guide Awards, Party Princess Sing a Long, Gala Nights as well as many successful open days

We love performing on the famous stage and to be a part of such a spectacular venue with such a respected heritage, we feel very honoured to work so closely and to have this amazing theatre on our doorstep.

Nicole and Matt have also worked very closely with the King's Youth Theatre lead by Joanna Bennington, sharing their knowledge and passion with this super talented bunch of young people who work tirelessly towards many productions performed on the Kings stage.

Matt and Nicole contribute by hosting a weekly class for the youth theatres "elite" strand, that works on choreography, confidence, stamina and performance skills. Each week a new style of dance is explored with a fresh exciting new routine. The children have a chance to work in groups, create some of their own choreography and perfect their new found skills and styles over each term.

Nicole and Matt have also helped to choreograph for some of the youth theatres shows such as Oliver.

Last year in November Manic were lucky enough to be invited to head to Caen in France alongside the Kings Theatre to be a part of the team promoting Albert Road, The Theatre and Southsea.

Southsea is twinned with the city of Caen and is such a beautiful town and place to visit. We joined the rest of the team including, the youth theatre, some of Albert roads quirky, unique shops and a host of others including David himself to gather interest and show off just what talent Southsea has to offer to the public of Caen!

We of course took to the offer and were so happy to be asked to be a part of this adventure. We took along our sky high stilt walkers which I can assure you attracted a lot of interest and excitement! Showing off our circus costumes our ringleader and clown brought the crowds to surround the Southsea stand in the centre of the festival and drummed up interested for the famous pantomime that was being held over Christmas at the time!

The trip was a great success, the youth theatre entertained the crowds with performance throughout the day and with lots of stalls to browse you had plenty to keep you busy during the weekend! We hope to be invited
back again next year and can't wait to see what new adventures lie in the near future!

Finally being our tenth birthday this year we thought what better way to celebrate than with a big celebratory showcase!

If there is one thing Manic Stage Productions knows how to do, it is how to put on a spectacular show!!
Later in the year, this July, the Kings theatre will play host to
Manic's 10th Anniversary Showcase!!
We are absolutely thrilled that The Kings Theatre will be the venue for this milestone and can not thank David Cooper and all his staff enough for their continued support.

Watch this space for full showcase details coming soon!

A word from David himself....

We have worked with Manic Stage Productions on various projects and events including our Children in Need fundraiser event, party events, dance workshops and the Southsea Show. They were a valuable support whilst organising Portsmouth’s contribution to Caen’s International Festival in France and their input much appreciated. As always they added fun and artistic flair. Whether working with us on a low budget charity fundraiser or a high profile event, Manic always give 110%. We’ve always found them to be a dream to work with due to their flexibility, professionalism and reliability. Congratulations on their 10th year in the industry we look forward to seeing what the future holds for them.

Finally it goes with out saying that Januarys celebrated client is a true honour to be associated with and one that we enjoy working for so very much!
We look forward to all future engagements and work opportunities that Manic and our talented team can feature in and be involved with in 2015 and beyond.

ALL ABOARD.....

H.M.S WARRIOR!

This time last week we're stepping off of dry land and working with a brand new client H.M.S Warrior in Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard. We had been booked to entertain with our bespoke performance pieces at their prestigious 'Summer Ball'

HMS Warrior really is such an amazing venue and of course we were so excited to be working onboard and given the task to fill the event with lots of amazing treats for the guests that were attending.

Our girls were first staged at the entrance to the ship and on the jetty to welcome the glamorous guests aboard. With two showgirlz high up on or signature stilts they certainly set the scene for a night of glitz and glamour ahead of the 'Cabaret' themed evening. A lot of the guests wanted photos with our girls and with the stunning scenery and beautiful ship in the background who could blame them?

We also had two more stunning showgirlz in different feathered costumes on foot, assisting the captain when greeting the passengers onto the top deck. With feathers, sequins and smiles our girlz started the evening off in true show stopping style.

As the night continued the guests had a wonderful three course dinner and were treated to a Rat Pack style singer to entertain them whilst they ate. Also on the ship was a photographer, our good friend and sensational singer Rachel as well as a casino for everyone to enjoy.
Whilst the guests enjoyed their three courses it was our teams job to help with the evening's raffle. Picking winners, handing out prizes and posing for photos our girlz really can help with any little extras you have at your event.

Lastly it was our turn to perform. With the length of the ship filled with tables of guests our girlz spread along the lower deck ready for their number. In an amongst all of the historic artefacts in this fabulous setting we performed to 'Diamond's Are A Girls Best Friend'. Our high kicks, splits, and dazzling choreography certainly got the attention of the passengers as they stopped eating their dessert to watch the girlz strut their stuff in style.

We had a great evening on board such an amazing ship and with lots more themes and ideas in the pipeline we can't wait to hopefully be back very soon!

Big thank you to all the staff at HMS Warrior for making us feel so welcome :-)

If you are interested in having a team of professionals to host and entertain at you event then do not hesitate to contact us!

Hand Painted Beauties

HAIR AND BEAUTY AWARDS!

Last Saturday the Portsmouth Guildhall hosted the annual industry event 'The News Hair & Beauty' awards.
This is most definitely the biggest date in the salon calendar and each year the biggest and brightest names and talents from the local area join forces to celebrate the high standard of work produced in their craft.

Every year this event has grown in popularity and success and has certainly become more and more glamorous each time around. For the 2nd year running Manic Stage Productions had been invited and asked to provide the nights entertainment to wow the audience throughout the evening.

We provided our eye catching stilt walker at the main entrance to the Guildhall to welcome the guests for their exciting evening. As always she went down a treat. Our red showgirl costume was shining away and with our feathers out in force everyone was impressed with the sky high entertainment that added that little extra touch to the beginning of the event.  Along side was our topless waiter catching the ladies eye!  Both created the perfect photo opportunities and a bit of a cue began to form once they had caught the guests attention.

The theme of the evening was 'Cirque Du Soleil' and with such an exciting and outrageous request we decided our costumes needed to be just as creative. Our dancers had skin tight full body silver catsuits to show off their amazing skills, which were beautifully painted and decorated by our body paint artist. With white, blue and silver paint our uniquely painted costumes complimented the night brilliantly and looked super stunning.
Being the hair and beauty awards we needed hair and make up that would stand out and impress, so we did just that. Our face painter continued her work from body painting up to our performers faces to add the finishing touches and with big outrageous hair our look was complete and we were ready to perform.

Next up our team of professionals took to the stage to showcase our brand new 'Cirque Du Soleil' performance.
We tailored our routines to fit in with the evening and had lots to offer. With stunning choreography, creative dance routines and endless energy our team certainly impressed the crowds. Not only did we have dance, the team showed off their superb acrobatics and circus skills and flexibility followed by 2 pole performance spectacles featuring within the medley.

The decision to add a little something different was a great one and the elegant and dramatic art of pole dance was a creative addition and something that a lot of people had not seen done in such a way before! It was a big hit and was performed beautifully and showcased strength, sophistication and beauty.
The medley certainly showed off the amazing talents of our team and the audience loved it.

As you can see we really can tailor to any sort of theme you may have and will create bespoke entertainment for your event no matter how big or small.

Manic's Member Of The Month: JADE!

MEMBER OF THE MONTH: MAY JADE!

Here is a little bit about Manic's member of the month Jade.

Where have you been the past few months?

For the past 6 months I have been cruising on the Caribbean Princess Cruise Ship round the gulf of mexico leaving from houston each week. I have visited many places along the way and docked in some beautiful and exciting destinations.

What shows did you do on the ship and your favourites?

We had 3 different main shows in the theatre on the ship, the first was called, ‘Do You Wanna Dance!’ This particular show had a rock n roll section, an indian section, an irish section and finally a disco section. This was a very varied show with all sorts of genres and styles of choreography. This fantastic show was great fun as I got to showcase lots of different styles of dance and try a little bit of everything which kept it exciting.
The second show was named ‘Caribbean Caliente’, this show was more of a latin salsa style show. The show took place in the weeks of traveling between LA and Mexico to the caribbean.
Our final show is ‘Born To Be Wild’. This show was based around a car journey and this one was probably my favourite to perform. Alongside the great soundtrack there was a also a pink cadillac on stage with us that was used throughout the routines.

How did you enjoy your contract and the places that you visited?

I enjoyed my contract so so much this time around. What with the great shows and amazing choreography there were so many other high points. I met so many great new people on this ship who are now really good friends. Sadly on this contract we did have quite a few injuries meaning we lost some crew members and had to re work some shows. Other than that the ship was brilliant and had so much on board to keep us busy when we weren’t rehearsing or performing. Each port that we visited had beautiful beaches and everything that we needed really close by which kept us all happy. There was lots of do and many places to explore at each port which gave us some great adventures and memories of each place we docked.
Are you glad to be coming back to join Manic for a few months?

I am very glad to be coming back to Manic in my break between ships. At Manic I always have so much fun and their array of job opportunities are always something to look forward to. I am excited to get back into pro class every Tuesday to see the team and learn what they have been up to and rehearsing. Everyone at Manic are so welcoming and encouraging and it makes it so easy to slip straight back in for the short time that I am home.

Whats your favourite thing to do with Manic?

My favourite things to do with Manic are as follows. I love doing a regular dance class besides keeping me fit and technically trained it’s a great way to meet up each week with the team and get practising for all the exciting jobs that are booked. Secondly one of my biggest highlights that I look forward to are the bridal catwalk shows. These fashion shows are always so much fun to be a part of, from trying on all sorts of dresses, to rehearsing the catwalk show, having hair and make up done and to finally performing the choreography. Although I haven't performed in one of the big performances yet they look great and I know they have been a massive success with the clients and audiences so I am hoping to be a part of one of these whilst I am home.

What drives you to perform?

The audiences normally drive me to perform, see that they are enjoying watching you do something that you love. This is such a buzz knowing that they appreciate what you do. It just makes me so happy to be on stage and I know I’m so lucky to have the chance to do this as my job.

What are your plans for the next few months and your time at home?

For the rest of my time at home I’m going to take some time and enjoy relaxing at home with my mum n dad. I plan to try and catch up with friends which is hard because they’re either scattered around the country or on ships in different country's themselves.
I returned to class this week with the rest of the Manic team and am hoping that I can be a part of as many performances and events as I possibly can whilst I’m home before I jet back off again in 6 weeks to continue on my next Princess contract.

Clowning Around

Roll Up Roll Up

Did you come down to Lakeside North Harbour to the Cirque Du Central Square event last Wednesday evening?!

The SHOW Girlz entertained the thousands of office workers at 1000 Lakeside during the grand opening of Lakeside North Harbour Central Square.

To open the event our gorgeous girlz clowned around performing to a medley of fun circus themed songs by Britney and Christina. They danced, jumped and twirled to open the event with colourful costumes and creative choreography

The evening was presented by our very own Ring Master Jamie who compered the unfolding events.

As the night drew in our very own fire performer Megan wowed the crowds with breath taking fire eating!

The whole Manic team amazed the crowds with their circus acts and our stilt walker Natalie delighting the passers by as she stood high up above the crowds!

The Circus themed event was to celebrate the opening of the new shopping area at 1000 Lakeside and along with our dazzling performers there were some fantastic free runners and many of the shops had demonstrations, competitions and fun for all the family.

What a great, fun event for the retailers to showcase themselves and for the crowds to be fully entertained by an evening of circus themed entertainment!
