Another Fun Filled Half Term

READ WHAT MANIC GOT UP TO
THIS HALF TERM!

This February Manic again took over the Harlequin room at the Portsmouth Guildhall to run our ever successful children's half term dance days and workshops.

Last week a whole host of children arrived ready to dance, sing, play games and create their very own arts and crafts with lots of new friends at 2 of our fun packed dance days.

Monday we hosted 'We Love Boybands'

With a room full of fans the children learnt and performed routines to their favourite chart topping heart throbs including One Direction, The Vamps, 5 Seconds Of Summer, JLS and many many more.
We made some very colourful concert posters with brilliant drawings of our favourite artists to show our family friends when they arrived at the end for "showtime".
Along with beautiful singing and catwalks the performance was jam packed with all of the exciting activities that we had practised and perfected through out the day.

Our 1D cardboard cut outs proved a popular posing point for a quick photo opportunity with our fave boy band member, creating the perfect little keepsake picture and memory of the day. These weren't just for the children, some of the parents jumped in for a quick photo too ...
Even Matt and Emma couldn't resist a quick snap with the famous faces!

Tuesday was a different theme altogether and with a group of new children to entertain we hosted
'Magical Fairytale, Once Upon A Time'

This group of beautiful princesses learnt new magical moves ready to be added to our "showtime" dances at the end of the day.
The children shared with us their favourite fairytales and wow what a variety we had to choose from!

We encouraged the children to have a go at their own creative choreography, which featured in our catwalk finally and there individual spotlight moment.
Showtime also showcased two different dance routines, sensational singing and amazing arts and crafts.

We were so busy on Tuesday, learning two routines and also squeezing in two different types of crafts.
Our Fairytale posters had pictures of our fairytale lands, magical spells, prince and princess's and all sorts of beautiful decorations.
Secondly we made beautiful magic wands to use as props during our catwalk at showtime. They shined and sparkled just as the children did over both days.

With both groups making a whole bunch of new friends and all the children looking forward to the next school holiday. We are already planning more exciting events and themes for your little ones to enjoy this Easter

Look out on our facebook page 'Manic Stage Productions' and our website www.manicsp.co.uk for the first release of our Easter Holidays, May Half Term and Summer School activities. Manic Stage Productions cannot wait to see you all again for more holiday fun!!
In the mean time we thank you for joining us this half term and hope you had as much fun as we did.
Look forward to seeing you all again soon!

February's Celebrated Client

LOVE IS IN THE AIR!!..

The team were hard at work this valentines weekend and romance was definitely in the air as we took to the Portsmouth Guildhall stage to entertain the bride and grooms to be at the first wedding fayre of the year.

As we do at each PMN Wedding Fayre, Manic produced the creative catwalk with beautiful stunning choreography and showcased gorgeous dresses from two bridal boutiques in the local area.

With a selection of romantic tracks our models took to the catwalk  with a packed out crowd of excited brides getting ideas and looking  to make their big day one to remember with that perfect dress.

Our models were lucky enough to have their hair and make up done by the professional stylists and artists at Diamond Quay Hair and Beauty Lounge. Their looks complimented the dresses exquisitely and allowed our models to flaunt their elegant looks throughout the performance.
We also had lots of hair accessories and jewellery to model from different companies to add to our production and they really topped off our overall looks and gave the audience a whole host of things to consider when getting inspiration for their own weddings.

We always love creating the catwalk show for PMN and have worked closely with Paul now for the past few years.
As part of our 10th year in business birthday celebrations we are presenting one of close clients each month with a bottle of champagne to show our appreciation and thanks for the support and work relationship in the build up to our tenth year!
This February Paul and Karen, (Organisers of PMN Wedding Fayres) were our chosen recipients and posed on the catwalk for a celebratory photo with the models and team on stage.

We will be at a different venue on Sunday again for PMN. If you fancy coming along to see what Old Thorns Manor, Liphook has to offer then you will be able to see a wide variety of companies providing all the services you could possibly need for your special day and there will be two catwalk shows produced by our team for your viewing pleasure.

January's Celebrated Client - The Kings Theatre

THANK YOU TO THE KINGS THEATRE!

This year we begin our 10th birthday celebrations of being in business and each month we are thanking one of our fantastic clients for their continued support, generosity and valued working relationship.

January's celebrated client is of course The Kings Theatre

Over the past 10 years Manic have had a brilliant relationship with one of the most beautiful theatres on the South Coast.

The famous Kings Theatre right here in the heart of Southsea, Portsmouth plays host to hundreds of touring productions, comedians and musical stars each and every month.

Manic Stage Productions are very thankful to have formed such a great working relationship with the theatre and its creative team over the years and are always thrilled to be asked be a part of their fantastic educational events, fundraising shows, one off appearances and events around the city and beyond.

A huge thank you to David Cooper, the manager of the Kings Theatre who has given us countless performing opportunities and has asked for our services on many occasions to add some glitz, glamour and style to all kinds of events.
We have been a part of the Children In Need charity showcase for the past 5 years which are always so much fun for the team and a chance to show off our latest medleys to the people of Portsmouth.

Manic have provided, showgirls, dancers, singers and hostesses for many different Kings Theatre based events and performances such as, Fused, The Guide Awards, Party Princess Sing a Long, Gala Nights as well as many successful open days

We love performing on the famous stage and to be a part of such a spectacular venue with such a respected heritage, we feel very honoured to work so closely and to have this amazing theatre on our doorstep.

Nicole and Matt have also worked very closely with the King's Youth Theatre lead by Joanna Bennington, sharing their knowledge and passion with this super talented bunch of young people who work tirelessly towards many productions performed on the Kings stage.

Matt and Nicole contribute by hosting a weekly class for the youth theatres "elite" strand, that works on choreography, confidence, stamina and performance skills. Each week a new style of dance is explored with a fresh exciting new routine. The children have a chance to work in groups, create some of their own choreography and perfect their new found skills and styles over each term.

Nicole and Matt have also helped to choreograph for some of the youth theatres shows such as Oliver.

Last year in November Manic were lucky enough to be invited to head to Caen in France alongside the Kings Theatre to be a part of the team promoting Albert Road, The Theatre and Southsea.

Southsea is twinned with the city of Caen and is such a beautiful town and place to visit. We joined the rest of the team including, the youth theatre, some of Albert roads quirky, unique shops and a host of others including David himself to gather interest and show off just what talent Southsea has to offer to the public of Caen!

We of course took to the offer and were so happy to be asked to be a part of this adventure. We took along our sky high stilt walkers which I can assure you attracted a lot of interest and excitement! Showing off our circus costumes our ringleader and clown brought the crowds to surround the Southsea stand in the centre of the festival and drummed up interested for the famous pantomime that was being held over Christmas at the time!

The trip was a great success, the youth theatre entertained the crowds with performance throughout the day and with lots of stalls to browse you had plenty to keep you busy during the weekend! We hope to be invited
back again next year and can't wait to see what new adventures lie in the near future!

Finally being our tenth birthday this year we thought what better way to celebrate than with a big celebratory showcase!

If there is one thing Manic Stage Productions knows how to do, it is how to put on a spectacular show!!
Later in the year, this July, the Kings theatre will play host to
Manic's 10th Anniversary Showcase!!
We are absolutely thrilled that The Kings Theatre will be the venue for this milestone and can not thank David Cooper and all his staff enough for their continued support.

Watch this space for full showcase details coming soon!

A word from David himself....

We have worked with Manic Stage Productions on various projects and events including our Children in Need fundraiser event, party events, dance workshops and the Southsea Show. They were a valuable support whilst organising Portsmouth’s contribution to Caen’s International Festival in France and their input much appreciated. As always they added fun and artistic flair. Whether working with us on a low budget charity fundraiser or a high profile event, Manic always give 110%. We’ve always found them to be a dream to work with due to their flexibility, professionalism and reliability. Congratulations on their 10th year in the industry we look forward to seeing what the future holds for them.

Finally it goes with out saying that Januarys celebrated client is a true honour to be associated with and one that we enjoy working for so very much!
We look forward to all future engagements and work opportunities that Manic and our talented team can feature in and be involved with in 2015 and beyond.

Manic's Member of the Month - Jan '15

Manic's Member of the Month!
*JESS*

This month we have chosen to introduce you to another member of our talented team, so you can get to know each of us a little better!

This months Manic member is JESS!!
Here's a bit about her and what she has been up to recently! Hope you enjoy!

When did you start dancing?

I started dancing at the age of three when my mum and dad sent me to ballet class. I was quite a shy child so my parents decided drama classes would be a real help in building my confidence. At the age of 10 I got the opportunity to perform on a West End Stage, and from that moment I knew that I wanted to make performing my profession. I loved it from the second I stepped out onto that stage.

What were your first performance experiences?
As a young dancer I was picked to perform with BALLET Russe in their performance of ‘Giselle’, performed in many shows at The Chichester Festival Theatre, and at the age of 16 I featured as a soloist on BBC radio 2. I also completed all of my major examinations in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, grade 7 singing and gained a distinction in my drama diploma.

Tell us about your training
I first trained at ‘ Emma Reynolds school of dance’ then on to ‘Art of Dance and Fitness’ in west sussex. At 18 I went on to train for three years at the prestigious ‘Laine Theatre Arts’. I had the most amazing three years there and learnt so much about the industry.
What was your 1st professional job?
My first job straight out of college was a world cruise performing as a singer/dancer on board ‘Voyages of Discovery’. I performed in musical medleys, cabarets, as a Vegas show girl, to Murder Mystery’s and Alan Ayckbourn’s short plays. We were certainly kept busy! I ended up accepting another contract on board shortly after.

When did you join Manic Stage Productions
I joined Manic in March 2013 and can’t quite believe how quickly the time has flown! I love being part of the Manic family!

Everyone’s so friendly and incredibly supportive of one another.
Everyone at Manic is very busy, what have you been up to lately?

I currently teach Dance in the evenings for a local dance school and have recently returned from the land of Panto, in which I was Princess Jasmine In Aladdin. We toured all over London at different venues and was a wonderful new experience.

What have your Manic highlights been?

I’ve had so many exciting opportunities since joining Manic.  A few of my favourite gigs have been performing at Twickenham Stadium alongside ‘Little Mix’, performing on the Solent Forts and the children’s parties that we host are always such fun!
Meeting every Tuesday for class with the team is something I always look forward to. Were always rehearsing or working towards something new and exciting!

To meet the rest of our team don't forget to subscribe and follow our blog. We have all sorts of exciting bookings coming up that we can't wait to tell you about, so watch this space!
